Technical Writer

At Panasonic since October 2013

Originally from the Heart of Dixie, I grew up in Ardmore, a northern Alabama city that borders the Tennessee line. I am an avid animal lover and adopted my sweet parakeet Cadence when I was a freshman in college. While in school, I also enjoyed playing with my neighbors’ friendly kitten Biscuit, who had adopted me as his new human. Cadence passed away unexpectedly in May 2016 and I intend to volunteer at nearby aviaries to honor his life and continue enjoying the company of feathered friends. When I moved closer to work, my neighbors gave Biscuit to me. I enjoy cooking, musical activities, creative writing, reading, painting, socializing, and spending time outside—all of which keep my creative juices flowing that I need for work.

I began my technical writing career in 2011 as an Auburn University student, working as the first technical writer for the Office of Information Technology, where I documented web development projects and managed the AU Webmaster email account. I received my B.A. in Professional Writing and Literacy Studies with a minor in Psychology in August 2012 and completed my job with the university at the end of the year. In 2013, I became Business Development Technical Writer for a small clinical services company in Auburn. On the side, I was honored to help edit a book—Treasures in Ashes: Twin Discoveries from a Cancer Journey by Beth Fletcher Brokaw.

As my career goals took shape, I became interested in the manufacturing industry. I was ecstatic when I learned about the technical writing opportunity at Panasonic! In October 2013, I became Technical Writer for the Lithium Battery Division. Within a month, I completed training as Internal Auditor for ISO/TS-16949 and began producing documents.

At work, I appreciate that Panasonic recognizes the professional need for effective technical communication and allows me to fulfill it. My “tool belt” is a variety of software that I’ve used to create instructions, guides, and training material—even video animation—to illustrate technical information. I love using these tools and my creative abilities to help others. Above all, my favorite part of working at Panasonic is being surrounded by the wonderful people here, and I am thankful for my Panasonic family every day.
